Our philosophy can best be captured by the old adage “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” In the North Pocono area we are fortunate to have clean streams, good drinking water, substantial forest cover, healthy wildlife and little degradation.
We do not have to look very far to see the ravages to the environment that poor land use practices have brought. Throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania we see many examples of streams and rivers suffering from ongoing acid mine drainage, sewage and storm water pollution and stream bank erosion.
That is why our belief and our actions are aimed at preserving what we have. Whether it is monthly monitoring of our streams and river, counting and classifying macroinvertebrates, holding education programs, or challenging developments that would cause degradation, it is all done with this in mind. We hope that you share this philosophy and will join us in our efforts.
